Mariners start hampshire campaign with a win
Hampshire 2
Lymington Mariners 28 – 3 Alresford
Lymington Mariners kicked off their inaugural match in Hampshire 2 league with a well tough victory against Alresford.
The first half saw Lymington score three converted tries, all coming from the backs. The first was scored by vice captain Joe Rodway on one of his trademark breaks through the defensive line. The second cam from debutant centre Thomas Pauc, after some slick handling by the backs put him through in the corner. The third was a solo effort from scrum-half Chris Scott-Bowden whose mercurial side-stepping beat three defenders. Thomas Pauc kicked all three conversations.
In the second half Alresford’s defence held strong for 20 minutes but finally some excellent quick rucking by the Lymington pack created space out wide and the Lymington Rivaaz Man of the Match Thomas Pauc grabbed his second try and fourth conversion of the match.
This also secured the extra bonus point to give Lymington the perfect start to their league campaign. A converted penalty five minutes later proved to be the games final points.
Saturday Lymington have another league fixture at home to Stoneham Park, 3pm Kick off at Woodside Park.
